Velosum deploys new application of vCitePlus in Grand Junction Colorado
Grand Junction, Colorado; May 17, 2009 – In partnership with Grand Junction, Colorado, Velosum, Inc., (www.velosum.com) successfully deployed vCitePlus as the issuance and software management solution for the city’s weed abatement initiative. City personnel use digital pen and paper and vCitePlus’ ASP-based platform to issue warnings and citations, schedule follow-up visits, manage remediation, and facilitate collection and settlement services.
vCitePlus is most often deployed as a complete parking citation management solution. However, according to Michael Critchfield, Velosum’s Vice President of Sales and Marketing, “Our customers are validating the scalability and benefits our core system provides by requesting other vertical applications. We are able to reduce overall costs and drive new revenues by delivering multiple applications that allow more to be done at a fraction of the price of in-house legacy systems or current handheld technologies.”
Using Anoto digital pen and paper technology, vCitePlus creates full featured citation management platforms that capture, render, translate, process, and store handwritten forms. Pen and paper is still the simplest and most effective form of data collection, especially for mobile data, and Velosum’s handwriting recognition technology allows adaptable enterprise solutions that capture and share data between database systems – eliminating the need for manual data entry.
“Grand Junction city officials saw the value of an on-line system to improve their weed abatement program,” said David Boardman, Velosum Sales Executive. “vCitePlus provides multiple photos for every citation along with a GPS tag of its location. Citizens who are cited may immediately log-on to www.grandjunctionweeds.com to review their infraction. Integration to the county’s parcel database allows land owner information to be imported and notices to be sent directly from vCitePlus, creating an efficient and streamlined management process.”
Grand Junction is also planning to employ vCitePlus to document and manage graffiti forms – utilizing our photo and GPS technology to document and track graffiti vandalism throughout the city. This information will be made available in real-time to police officers, city staff, and others to help manage and eliminate these destructive crimes. Several more public safety organizations are looking into other applications such as gang monitoring and administrative citations.
